John Hancock

John Hancock was born on January 12, 1737. One of the things he is most  famous for is signing his name on the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock’s signature on the Declaration of Independence is the most recognizable of all.  John Hancock wanted the King to see his signature first when he saw the Declaration.  Hancock thought if the King was angry, he would come after Hancock first. A quote by John Hancock is: “The British ministry can read the name without spectacles (glasses), let them double their reward.”  John Hancock was Governor of Massachusetts nine times, but during his ninth term he died.
