The Constitution Signed in Philadelphia

The Start of Freedom

After the colonies united in their fight to break away from England, they stayed united to make this country what it is today.  Delegates to the Constitutional Convention decided what rights and freedoms they wanted for themselves and future Americans.  These rights and freedoms are detailed in a document called the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution is the "Supreme Law of the Land" and no laws can be written that are stronger than the Constitution or they go against it.

On September 17, 1787, the Constitutional Convention came to a close with the signing of the Constitution in the Assembly Room of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
