Treaty of Paris

After much fighting, the Treaty of  Paris was signed in Paris on September 3, 1783. This was an agreement that officially ended the American Revolution.  It also was when Britain recognized the United States as an independent nation. The people signing the Treaty from the United States were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay. There were 9 articles in the treaty which established United States boundaries, gave certain fishing rights, allowed creditors in each country to be paid by citizens of the other, restored the rights and property of Loyalists, opened up the Mississippi River to citizens of both nations, and provided for removal of all British forces from America. The Treaty of Paris was approved by the Second Continental Congress on January 14, 1874.
