The American Revolution
|
|
On April 19th, 1775, the war between the colonies and Great Britain began. The American Revolution began because the colonists began to feel that they wanted a say in how to run, rule, and form their lives in America. A lot of colonists also felt that they should not have to pay the taxes that the British decided to collect in order to pay for the cost of the French and Indian War. After many years of "taxation without representation", the American Revolution began with a single shot, know as the a shot heard around the world at Concord. This war continued until February 1783 when King George realized he was beaten and issued a Proclamation of Cessation of Hostilities, and asked for the return of all British soldiers to England. After the colonists won the war, they began to create what is now known as the United States of America.
