Paul Revere
Midnight rider |
|
On April 18, 1775 Paul Revere set out on horseback from Boston to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to warn the colonists of the British attack. Before Paul Revere began his famous ride, the colonists had created a plan in which they had decided to hang one lantern in a church tower if the British were coming by land and two lanterns if the British were coming by sea. Paul Revere saw two lanterns hung and began his ride through the towns yelling, “The British are coming. The British are coming.” Without his help, the colonists would not have been as ready as they were to fight. |
