1774
First Continental Congress

The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia from September 5, 1774 to October 26, 1774. At this congressional meeting, the delegates wrote a list of complaints against Parliament for the unfair treatment of the colonies. They voted to stop trading with the British until the King repealed the Intolerable Acts. The colonists did not want to break away from Great Britain at this meeting. They just wanted to be treated fairly and to have the rights they felt they deserved.
