                     Proclamation of 1763

The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was written to prove to the Indians that they had the King’s protection. The Proclamation, signed by King George III, who was the ruler of Great Britain, required Englishmen to get off Indian Territory.  It also included a list of things that were not allowed. The Royal Proclamation was written to calm the fears of the Indians who thought the colonists were going to push them off their land. This Royal Proclamation was made in 1763 after the French and Indian War. As a result of this proclamation, the Indians got their land back, and the colonists were forced to move back east of the Appalachian Mountains.
